The Birregurra Recreational Reserve Committee will launch an exciting new Master Plan for the town’s recreational reserve on Friday, May 03.
A small band of dedicated Birregurra residents committed to seeing the town’s sporting ground upgrade, has invited residents from the town to a launch event to unveil a proposal to reinvigorate the site.
Birregurra Recreation Reserve Committee Chairman Paul Drewry said the town is desperately in need of an upgrade of facilities.
“We want people to come along and see what we have proposed for the redevelopment for the reserve,” Drewry said.
“The facilities at the reserve are outdated, dilapidated and fall well short of current health and safety regulations.”
The night will launch the Birregurra Appeal to begin the process of raising funds to start implementing the plan, and create a wonderful community space for all residents of the town to enjoy.
“We want to provide a modern sporting and community centre for all Birre residents to benefit from and be proud of,” Drewry added.
“That includes buildings, amenities and playing surfaces. We need a facility that can be used not only for sporting groups but other user groups in the community and the general public.”
The committee has invited dignitaries including state and federal politicians, police members and community leaders to witness the launch, and will present a special guest speaker to headline the night.
“Without us raising money initially, we cannot approach funding agencies for support to get this community redevelopment underway.”
The committee would be delighted to hear from anyone interested in attending the launch event.
